It's been a couple years since my first and only post to TheDotComrads, and on some advice from a close friend, I'm gonna give another go at it, just for shats and googles.

The top album of 2009 for me is without a doubt Agoraphobic Nosebleed's "Agorapocalypse". Released early this year, it is still in my car's cd player, only to be removed when someone with delicate ears is riding with me (which is most people).

ANb's sound is brutal to say the least. Known for their championing of the Grindcore genre's blitzkrieg of blast beats (1000+ bpm due to Scott Hull's drum programming) and concise songs (often just a few seconds a track) they have always been at the forefront of an often overlooked musical style. In the past I've felt that although I enjoy their albums, they've always felt like a collection of tracks, rather than a whole concept. Well, Agorapocalypse has changed all of that.

Agorapocalypse is a masterpiece of powerviolence and grind. Starting out with "drum sticks" counting off, ANb immediately shreds into your throat with "Agorapocalypse Now", a march through "Orwell's nightmare" America where we're nothing more than automatons trudging through our daily lives, lacking the will to put a bullet through our own brains. Then there's the "Timelord" tracks (0, 1, and 2) that tell the story of our narrator (Jay Randall, often portraying himself) traveling through time and either killing Jesus to save the world, smuggling drugs for aliens, or having sex. The writing on the album is excellent and quite frank- if in a very obtuse way. The songs have actual structure, which is a new thing for ANb, and it's quite refreshing to see what these guys are capable of, especially with the addition of Kat Katz, a female from the band Salome that steps the urgency of the vocals and honestly adds a layer of evil that just hits the right spot (her growl is intense!).

Basically Agorapocalypse is a new level of extreme music that ANY other band is going to have a hard time meeting. If you are able to listen to loud, fast, bloody time-changes, and politically incorrect music with song titles like "Druggernaught Jugfuck", this is the only album you will ever need... until their next release.

I'm new to TheDotComrades, but you will be seeing a lot of reviews from me since I don't really have much else to say. Okay, I have been telling everyone I know about this band "Working For a Nuclear Free City" from Manchester. The album is called "Businessmen and Ghosts". I describe them as Coldplay meets The Stone Roses by way of Ride, with a little XTC and Radiohead thrown in. Stylistically they are all over the map but retain their sound consistently. You will be saying to yourself "This is the same band?!" It is so good you will be very pleased. I promise you baby, you'll love it or I'll be a monkey's uncle.

Last night I lost in the house pool of Academy Award winners.

(I only got 8 right)

Thankfully I was the only one who correctly guessed

Taxi to the Dark Side.

Of course nobody in the household, including myself,

saw any of the Documentaries that were nominated.

I just thought,

"cool, a movie about a Star Wars cabbie".

Turns out, the movie had nothing to do with Star Wars.

Apparently, Star Wars is fiction which means you can make

a documentary ABOUT Star Wars

but not a documentary that's set IN the Star Wars universe.

Speaking of my favorite far, far away galaxy...

Ok, ok, ok...

I'm a huge Lost dork.

So my obsession with a novelty band called

The Others

shouldn't be very surprising.

The Others make songs about plot-lines and implement quotes

from the very best show

on television.

It is as genius as it is hilarious.

They write the songs that make the geek-o-sphere sing.

My favorite song so far is Primary Objective.

It's times like these which make me happy that I moved back to the east coast.

Sure, the odds of running into Evangeline Lilly while eating breakfast have decreased.

But, at least I get my Lost fix THREE HOURS ahead of Hollywoodland.

When Björk Attacks...

Well...

Björk has done it again.

Attacked another photographer - this time outside of a New Zealand airport.

Apparently, Björk was en route to meet up with her brother in Rivendale.

The reporter's account of the story:

"I took a couple of pictures ... and as I turned and walked away she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy (T-shirt) and tore it, as she did this, she fell over, she fell to the ground," he said. "At no stage did I touch her or speak with her."

He said that she didn't say anything during the attack.

The man that was with her did say:

"B, don't do this, B, don't do this."

B?!

That sound's like Björk's b-boy name.

Of course, it's probably awkward and weird to call someone Björk in the throws of passion.

Just ask my girlfriend.

I love robots.

Who doesn't?

They are very versatile.

They can mix drinks.

They can do household chores.

They can bring the jams while you eat pizza.

They can "do it".

They can save the universe as well as save us from the perils of smoking.

They can be proud of making awesome music.

I love robots.

Though sometimes, robots can be very annoying.

Saaaay, I notice an overcharge on my cell phone bill. When I call the company to sort it out, my fingers have to stumble through numerous amounts of menus just to have a robot direct me where I need to go.

Very annoying.

Lucky for us, Mr. Paul English has been hard at work obtaining resources to skip directly to humans who can help us vent our organic emotions.

I'm A Wolf With A Leaky Roof

I woke up this morning to a dripping noise- a fat dripping noise (as Forrest Gump would proclaim). I looked up and over to the corner where beads of water were bouncing off of my radiator. It turns out I had a leak coming from the ceiling. I called my landlord, who told me that he'd be in later that afternoon to take care of it. Good grief.

Instead of freaking out and attempting to build an ark with old folded up boxes of cardboard I have hidden under my bed, I instead decide to distract myself from impending flooding by listening to amazing music. Lately, I've been hooked on the new album from Sea Wolf, Leaves in the River.

According to the band's bio on their official website, (www.seawolfmusic.com/bio.html), information on the band is "Coming Soon". This leads me to visit the band's homepage and find that most of the links either lead you to itunes or to their myspace page. Which brings me to a point...

Whatever happened to official band websites? These days a lot of bands just forgo the whole website and instead settle for a myspace page. I mean, I don't want to be friends with all the artists that I enjoy, only a select few. Ok, only one-Bjork.

I really have to applaud artists that stay creative with actual websites, such as Ryan Adams.

ANYWAY...

Though their website leaves me empty and grumpy inside like twelve ounces of coffee on an empty stomach, Sea Wolf is perfect music for a rainy day, even when the rain is a leak from the ceiling in the corner of your room.
